Xylotrechus arvicola (Olivier, 1795)

This long-horned beetle is found in the Mediterranean region, other parts of Europe, North Africa and western Asia. It is common in some areas like on grapevine in Spain. The beetle is polyphagous and apart from grapevine attacks fruit and deciduous trees. On grapevine, females lay eggs into cracks of the bark and the emerging larvae bore into the wood. The life cycle lasts 2 years.

The adults have a length of 10-20 mm and are mostly dark brown to black. There are bright yellow marks on the head, the thorax and the elytra. The antennae and legs are lighter brown.
