Wheat yellow mosaic virus (WYMV)
The virus causes a serious disease of wheat in Asia accompanied by high yield losses of up to 50%. Infected plants show chlorosis or yellow stripes and are stunted. The virus is transmitted by the soil-borne fungus Polymyxa graminis which can persist in the environment for several years. Management relies on resistant cultivars.
