Vespula squamosa (Drury) - (southern yellowjacket)

This species of yellowjacket is found in eastern parts of North and Central America and is often the most common yellowjacket in southern North America. It often builds large nests (Pickett et al., 2011) in gardens and around houses and has a painful sting.
