Vespula germanica (Fabricius, 1799) - (German yellowjacket)

The wasp is native in the Palearctic region but has invaded various other regions, see map below. It is a serious pest of humans, cattle and also honeybees in many parts of the world, especially in areas where it has been introduced. In addition, it negatively affects the ecosystem.
