Venturia oleaginea (Castagne) Rossman & Crous 2015 - (peacock eye-spot disease of olive)
This fungus infects olives in the Mediterranean region, but has been also reported from other regions like Australia or South America.. The circular lesions with concentric rings resemble the eye-spots of peacock feathers. They reach a diameter of up to 1 cm. Infections cause leaf drop up to defoliation, poor growth and dieback. Yield losses of up to 20% have been estimated.
The first symptoms of the disease are small black spots, which are often arranged in concentric circles with an olive-green centre and outer rings with yellowish to reddish halos.
