Tropiduchidae

This family of planthoppers is common in tropical and subtropical regions and includes more than 500 species. The members are typically broad and flat, often green with many cross-veins on the forewings. A few species are regarded as agricultural pests like Ommatissus lybicus, a pest of date palms in the Near East.
