forewing venation of Triozidae

Triozidae

This is a large family of jumping plant lice (superfamily Psylloidea), related to families like the Psyllidae or Liviidae. It contains several important species of plant disease vectors which transmit non-culturable bacteria from the genus Liberibacter.

The family is characterized, among others by the trifurcation of veins R+M+Cu1 in the forewing (see illustration on the right), the lack of a forewing mark (pterostigma) and the extended forewing pads in nymphs. See Burckhardt and Ouvrard, 2012 for a taxonomic review of this family.
