Trichodectes canis (De Geer, 1778) - (dog biting louse)

This chewing louse is widely distributed and can tolerate extreme temperatures. It infests dogs and high populations can cause skin irritations. The adult insects are 1½ - 2 mm long. The life cycle lasts around 1 month.
