Trachyrhachys kiowa (C.Thomas, 1872) - (Kiowa grasshopper)
This grasshopper is found in North and Central American rangelands. It is common in short-grass prairies and can cause significant damage. Blue grama grass (Bouteloua gracilis) has been reported as the preferred grass species. The body is around 20 mm long. The typical body colour is a mixture of different shades of brown.
