Tobacco yellow dwarf virus (TYDV)

Unlike most mastreviruses, this virus infects only dicotyledons. It is found in Australia, where it has many hosts, including tobacco, tomatoes, beans and some other crops. The symptoms include severe stunting, as well as chlorosis and curling on the leaves. The leaf margins tend to curve downwards. TYDV is transmitted by the leafhopper Orosius argentatus in a persistent manner.

Like other mastreviruses, this virus has a single-stranded, monopartite DNA genome that encodes four proteins, a movement protein (MP), a coat protein (CP) and 2 replication proteins (Rep and RepA). However only Rep is essential for virus replication.
