Tibraca limbativentris Stål, 1860 - (rice stem bug)

This bug is an important pest of rice in South America. Other cereals and other crops may also be attacked. Grasses are often host plants when rice is out of season. Feeding of the nymphs and adults on the rice stems causes dead tillers or later whiteheads with empty panicles and unfilled grains. The percentage of whiteheads might exceed 30%.
