Theba pisana (O.F. Müller 1774) - (white garden snail)
The snail is native to Europe and the Mediterranean countries, but has been introduced into other regions like the Americas, South Africa or Australia. In some areas it has become a serious agricultural pest, attacking vegetables, fruit trees, ornamentals and other crops in large numbers. The snail can survive a dry environment and during hot and dry periods climbs up stems or grasses and goes into dormancy (aestivation).
