Cryptorhynchus mangiferae (Fabricius, 1775) - (mango stone weevil)

The weevil attacks the young, developing seeds of mango, where it pupates and emerges after the fruit has fallen to the ground and deteriorated. The species is believed to be native to Australia, but has spread to various mango growing regions around the world. Since the damage can reduce germination of mango seeds, it is regarded as a quarantine pest in some countries like in southern Europe.
