Sphagneticola trilobata (weed) (L.) Pruski - (Bay Biscayne creeping-oxeye)

The weed is native to Central America but has been introduced as an ornamental and established in many other parts of the world. It is particular common in southern Asia and in Pacific islands.

The plant is a small, creeping herb, up to 30 cm high, with strong stolons. It covers the ground and can form mats. Propagation is mainly vegetatively by rooting from stem nodes that are in contact with the soil.
