Solenopsis geminata (Fabricius, 1804) - (tropical fire ant)
This species of fire ant is native to southern parts of North America and northern parts of South America. It has been accidentally introduced into various tropical regions around the world like many Pacific islands, southern Asia and central Africa (Lee et al., 2021). Apart from being a health hazard, it protects aphids, but is also a predator of insect pests (see Solenopsis geminata as insect predator).
