Solenopsis geminata (Fabricius) - (tropical fire ant)

This species of fire ant is native to southern parts of North America and has been accidentally introduced into various tropical regions around the world like many Pacific islands, southern Asia and central Africa. Apart from being a health hazard, it protects aphids, but is also a predator of insect pests (see Solenopsis geminata as insect predator).
