Scutellonema brachyurus (Steiner, 1938) - (Carolina spiral nematode)

This spiral nematode is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. It feeds on a large variety of crops or other plants, for example, cotton, maize and soybean. The feeding activity causes necrotic root lesions, and densities of more than 100 nematodes per 100 cm3 of soil can result in measurable damage to the host plant (Agudelo & Harshman, 2011).
