Rhamphicarpa fistulosa (weed) (Hochst.) Benth. - (rice vampireweed)
This species is an important parasitic weeds in African rice fields that can cause yield losses of more than 50%. It also parasitises various other crops. The physiology of the parasitised rice plantis is gradually taken over by this weed, until the production of rice grains stops completely and all resources produced are diverted to the parasite (slavery in plants).
