Toxicidade de amidas derivadas da piperina para larvas de Ascia monuste orseis (Godart) (Lepidoptera, Pieridae)
[Toxicity of amides derivatives of piperine to Ascia monuste orseis (Godart) larvae (Lepidoptera, Pieridae)]
Revista Brasileira de Entomologia 45 (1), 7-10
Abstract: The aim of this work was to study the toxicity of the natural amides piperine and piperiline, isolated from black pepper, and also the synthetic amides N-ethylpiperamide, N,N-diethylpiperamide, N,N-diisopropylpiperamide, and N-butylpiperamide that are derivatives of piperine, to the first instar larvae of Ascia monuste orseis (Godart). The experimental design was completely randomized, and each treatment was replicated four times. The compounds were dissolved in acetone and topically applied. The larvae were placed in plastic pots of 250 ml, containing a small piece of cabbage, and placed in an incubator at 25 ± 0.5 °C, 75 ± 5% relative humidity, with a 12 h light period. After 48 h the insect mortality was evaluated. The results were analyzed by probit analysis. The N-butylpiperamide dose-mortality curve for A. monuste orseis presented the larger slope and the corresponding curve for piperiline the smallest one. The N,N-diethylpiperamide was the most toxic compound to A. monuste orseis, followed by piperine and N,N-diisopropylpiperamide, and the N-butylpiperamide, Nethylpiperamide and piperiline were the less toxic substances.
