Reticulitermes speratus (Kolbe, 1885) - (Japanese subterranean termite)

This termite is a household pest in eastern Asia where it can cause serious damage to wooden structures. It is the most common termite in Japan and has been also recorded from Korea and China. Five different subspecies have been described.
