Reticulitermes hesperus Banks in Banks and Snyder, 1920 - (western subterranean termite)

This termite is found in south-western North America, where it is regarded as a pest of wooden structures. Nests are constructed underground and tubes are build to bridge concrete barriers and to connect these nests to the infested wood. R. hesperus is mainly controlled through the application of toxic baits.
