Rattus exulans Peale - (Polynesian rat)

This rat is found in various Pacific islands, including New Zealand and Hawaii, as well as in parts of South-East Asia. It is comparatively small with a slender body, pointed snout, large ears, and small, delicate feet. A ruddy brown back contrasts with a whitish belly. It can be a pest in grain stores.
