Radopholus Thorne, 1949

The genus contains more than 10 species of plant parasitic nematodes with many species present in Australia and New Zealand. Several species are important agricultural pests like the banana-root nematode. Apart from banana, crops like coffee, citrus and Anthurium are attacked.

The species of Radopholus are 0.4-0.9 mm long and closely related to those of the genera Pratylenchus and Hirschmanniella. However, they have 2 ovaries, usually rod-shaped sperms and other morphological differences. Males are apparently absent in some species.
