Pseudococcus Westwood, 1840

The genus contains more than 150 species of mealybugs which are widely distributed. Various species are polyphagous and important pests like Pseudococcus longispinus or Pseudococcus viburni. They infests many types of crops like grapevines and fruit trees.

Typically, the filaments around the body are arranged in 17 or 18 groups with the posterior ones being long resembling a tail. The antennae of the adult female have 7 or 8 segments
