Prune dwarf virus (PDV)

The virus infects stone fruits and is widespread. The symptoms vary from mild to severe depending on virus isolate, host plant and environmental conditions. They include chlorosis, chlorotic rings and leaf spots, stunting, leaf malformations as well as dwarfed fruits. The virus can be transmitted during grafting, as well as by pollen and seeds.

The single-stranded, positive-sense RNA genome consists of three molecules. RNAs 1 and 2 encode proteins involved in viral replication and RNA 3 encodes the movement protein and coat protein, which is expressed via sub-genomic RNA 4.
