Proctolaelaps bickleyi (predator) (Bram, 1956)

This mite is widely distributed and has been reported to prey on mites from the genus Aceria. However, it also seems to feed on a variety of other organisms, including for example nematodes. In South America, a number studies have investigated the potential of P. bickleyi as a biological control agent of the coconut mite Aceria guerreronis. While it readily feeds on coconut mites, it has limitations as a control agent, due to its omnivorous diet (Lima et al., 2012).
