Pratylenchus brachyurus (Godfrey, 1929)

The nematode is found in warmer regions on groundnut, soybean, rice, sugarcane and other crops. E.g. it is the most damaging nematode on soybean in Brazil, where yield losses can reach 50%.

P. brachyurus is a migratory endoparasite which lives and moves within the root cortex. Damage by the nematode causes secondary infections by other pathogens and leads to symptoms like root necrosis, stunting or necrosis.
