Identification of Xanthomonas vasicola (formerly X. campestris pv. musacearum), causative organism of banana xanthomonas wilt, in Tanzania, Kenya and Burundi
Plant Pathology 59 (2), 403-403
Abstract: Samples from diseased bananas with symptoms of banana xanthomonas wilt were collected in Tanzania, Kenya and Burundi. The bacterium Xanthomonas vasicola was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on fatty acid profiling (MIDI system) and DNA analysis. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation and re-isolation.
