First report of Phytophthora nicotianae causing black shank of Schizonepeta tenuifolia in China
Plant Pathology 58 (4), 804-804
Abstract: During 2008, the medicinal herb Schizonepeta tenuifolia grown in Beijing and Hebei provinces, China was observed with symptoms of black-brown lesions on the stems and roots. Affected plants eventually wilted and died without dropping the leaves. The fungus Phytophthora nicotianae was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and ITS sequence analysis. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation and re-isolation.
