First report of root rot of stevia caused by Sclerotium rolfsii in India
Plant Pathology 56 (2), 350-350
Abstract: During a disease survey in 2005 of Stevia rebaudiana in Tamil Nadu, India, a new root rot disease was observed. Symptoms first appeared as yellowing and drooping of the leaves, with wilting of the plants and white cottony mycelial growth at the collar regions. A fungus was consistently isolated from diseased roots corresponding with published descriptions for Sclerotium rolfsii. Pathogenicity was confirmed by inoculation and re-isolation.
