Occurrence of Turnip mosaic virus on ornamental crops in Iran
Plant Pathology 54 (2), 261-261
Abstract: In 2003, chlorotic spots and mottling were observed on ornamental plants (Impatiens balsamina, Cheiranthus cheiri, Matthiola sp. and Zinnia elegans) grown in commercial greenhouses in Iran. Samples were tested for Turnip mosaic virus by DAS-ELISA using specific polyclonal antibodies. ELISA tests and transmission electron microscopy confirmed the presence of TuMV. In addition, two fragments of the expected size, approximately 700 bp and 1700 bp, were amplified using RT-PCR and universal primers for potyviruses.
