First report of root rot disease in green gram (Vigna radiata) caused by Ectophoma multirostrata in India
Plant Disease 106 (8), 2256-2256
Abstract: During 2020, green gram plants (Vigna radiata) grown in India were observed with root rot symptoms. Infected plants showed foliar chlorosis, brown discoloration, dark black brittle roots with necrotic lesions, and sometimes died. In 30 fields surveyed, the disease incidence was 15 to 20%. The fungus Ectophoma multirostrata was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence analysis. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation and re-isolation.
