First report of Grapevine yellow speckle viroid 1 and Hop stunt viroid in grapevine (Vitis vinifera) in New Zealand
Plant Disease 95 (5), 617-617
Abstract: During 2009, grapevine (Vitis vinifera) plants grown in New Zealand were observed with symptoms of shortened, spindly canes with tiny leaves. The presence of Grapevine yellow speckle viroid 1 and Hop stunt viroid was demonstrated in the symptomatic plants using PCR analysis and nucleotide sequencing. Viruses found in the vines include Grapevine leaf roll virus-3, Grapevine viruses A and B, and Rupestris stem pitting associated virus, but these are not thought to be the cause of the symptoms.
