First report of Melampsora larici-populina on Populus spp. in eastern North America
Plant Disease 88 (1), 85-85
Abstract: During 2002 in Québec, Canada, a hybrid poplar (Populus maximowiczii × P. balsamifera) seedling, thought to be resistant to Melampsora medusae (causing poplar rust), was observed with symptoms of yellow leaf spots. The fungus Melampsora larici-populina was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and ITS sequence analysis.
