Pilosella officinarum (weed) Vaill. - (mouse-ear hawkweed)
This species of dandelion-like plants is native to Europe and north-western Asia, but invasive in several other regions with a temperate climate. For example, it has been recorded as a weed from North America since 1902. It grows in nitrogen deficient soils and can tolerate low rainfall.
In invaded areas, it can form dense mats and suppresses other vegetation. Apart from disturbing the ecology in invaded countries, it has become also a serious agricultural weed of pastures.
