Pilosella caespitosa (weed) (Dumort.) P.D.Sell & C.West - (meadow hawkweed)

This species of dandelion-like plants is native to Europe, but has been introduced into several other regions. For example, it has become invasive in pastures or cleared forest areas of parts of North America (e.g. Wallace et al., 2006).

In invaded areas, P. caespitosa competes with and suppresses native species, among others due to its abundant seed production. The plants reach a height of 50-100 cm with yellow flower heads.

Synonyms:
Hieracium caespitosum

Vernacular names
• Deutsch: Wiesen-Habichtskraut
