Phytomyza gymnostoma Loew, 1858 - (onion leaf miner)

This leafmining fly is found in Europe and parts of western Asia. It has been also reported from several north-eastern U.S. states since late 2015. The larvae mine the stems and bulbs of leek and other Allium species, resulting in damage and rotting. The adults are around 3 mm long and there are typically 2 generations per year.
