Physalis viscosa (weed) L. - (grape groundcherry)

This species of groundcherry is native to parts of the Americas, but introduced into several subtropical and tropical regions like Africa. It has been also reported as an invasive weed in Australia, but there, the names "Physalis viscosa" and "Physalis lanceolata" (= Physalis virginiana) have been incorrectly applied to records of Physalis hederifolia (prairie groundcherry). It is regarded as an environmental and agricultural weed in some areas, e.g. in soybeans.
