Phenacoccus peruvianus Matile-Ferrero, 1977 - (Bougainvillea mealybug)

This mealybug is native to South America and has been recorded from southern Europe since 1999. It was first recorded in Spain and has since spread to other countries in Europe and northern Africa, including the United Kingdom and Tunisia. It attacks Bougainvillea and various other ornamentals.
