Patanga succincta (Johannson, 1763) - (Bombay locust)
This species of locust is found in southern parts of Asia, including India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and China. It has previously been regarded as a serious pest locust, causing serious outbreaks and even plagues. However, populations have declined around the turn of the 19th century and no major swarm has been reported since 1908. The locust feeds mainly on cereals and grasses.
