Paropsis charybdis Stål - (eucalyptus tortoise beetle)
This tortoise beetle is native to Australia and has been introduced into New Zealand where it causes defoliation since the early 1900s. Outbreaks have been reduced through the release of parasitoids imported from Australia in the 1980s. However, it still causes damage to susceptible eucalypt species.
