Parlatoria Targioni Tozzetti, 1868

This genus of scale insects is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. It contains around 70 species. Several species are regarded as pests of crops like Parlatoria oleae, a pest of olives and other trees, or Parlatoria pergandii, a polyphagous species. The genus is characterized by a number of morphological features. For example, the pygidium is fringed with well developed appendages.
