Paratrichodorus Siddiqi, 1974
This genus of plant-parasitic nematodes contains more than 30 species and is found mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. Several of them are important plant pathogens and virus vectors.
They are migratory ectoparasites and feed on the root tips of a large variety of crops. Common hosts are for example maize, sorghum and grasses. The damage usually occurs in patches and the crops show stubby root symptoms, stunting and yield losses.
