Panicovirus panici
Assigned virus:
• panicum mosaic virus (PMV)
The panicum mosaic virus induces a mild mottle on millet plants, but the addition of its satellite virus (SPMV) causes a severe chlorosis and stunting. It is also involved in a decline of St. Augustinegrass and causes an important disease of switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) cultivars grown as livestock feed (Stewart et al., 2015). SPMV is always dependent on PMV for replication and spread.
