Palomena prasina (Linnaeus, 1761) - (green pentatomid bug)

This plant-sucking bug is widely distributed in Europe and also found in some neighbouring regions. It is polyphagous, attacking fruit, nut and forest trees, as well as vegetables and weeds. There is one generation per year and the adults overwinter.

The adult bug is around 12-15 mm long and green in the summer, but brownish during the winter. The nymphs have a black head and pronotum in the first 2 instars, with a variable colour of the abdomen (green or brownish). In instars 3 to 5 they may be all green, or retain the black anterior parts.
