The impatiens necrotic spot virus is an important pathogen of ornamentals in greenhouses in various regions. Affected plants include, for example, Impatiens, Cyclamen, Begonia, Eustoma and Gentiana.

A variety of symptoms have been described like mottling, stunting, necrotic and chlorotic spots as well as ring spots. The virus is transmitted by Frankliniella occidentalis.
