Orthotospovirus hippeflavi
Assigned virus:
• Hippeastrum chlorotic spot virus (HCSV)
The Hippeastrum chlorotic spot virus, synonym: Hippeastrum chlorotic ringspot virus (HCRV), has been described from southern China as infecting amaryllis (Hippeastrum), causing necrotic and chlorotic ringspots (Dong et al., 2013). Natural infections have been also reported from spider lily (Hymenocallis littoralis) with similar symptoms and from Philodendron. Various crops can be infected experimentally. The thrips species Taeniothrips eucharii has been demonstrated to be a vector of HCSV and is common in southern China (Xu et al., 2017).
