Orthotospovirus citrullomaculosi
Assigned virus:
• watermelon silver mottle virus (WSMoV)
The watermelon silver mottle virus has been mainly reported from southern parts of Asia, where it infects cucurbits and tomatoes. The leaves and fruits from infected plants show chlorotic mottle and silver mottle symptoms. Infections result in yield reduction and unmarketable fruits. Transmission by the thrips Thrips palmi has been demostrated (e.g. Mou et al., 2021).
