Orthotomicus erosus (Wollaston, 1857) - (Mediterranean pine engraver)
This bark beetle is native to Europe, the Near East and North Africa, where it is a minor pest, colonizing dead and dying pine trees and other conifers. It has accidentally introduced into other regions. For example, it has been found in South Africa since 1968, and since 2004 in North America (California). It transmits blue-stain fungi.
