Ophiovirus vaccinii

Assigned virus:
blueberry mosaic associated virus (BlMaV)

BlMaV is widely distributed and associated with the blueberry mosaic disease. The disease often shows striking symptoms with persistent yellow, green, and red or pink mosaic patterns on the leaves. However, infected plants may also stay symptomless. In most cases, the symptoms only appear on some leaves of a blueberry plant. The effect on yield and fruit quality has not been studied in detail (Martin et al., 2012). The disease often spreads very little and could be soil-borne like in the case of other ophioviruses.
