Ophiosphaerella agrostidis Dern., M.P.S. Câmara, N.R. O'Neill, Berkum & M.E. Palm 2000 - (bentgrass dead spot)

This fungus causes dead spot disease of creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera) in North America. The ascospores are common, needle-like and apparently involved in the spread of the disease (Kaminski et al., 2005). Unlike other Ophiosphaerella species, the fungus does not cause necrosis on the roots.
